1st day ~ @ Bangkok, Thailand

Salaam,
It has been a very long time since I last updated this fotopage. A lot of things happened. Things that need explanations, clarification, everything. Things that make me wonder, appreciating myself is a lot much better rather than appreciating someone else...
Anyway, starting from now, I promised myself, I want my life to be 'documented'. Though I am not a celebrity myself (that perhaps their biography would make bestsellers), this is the only way to document my life. I am doing it for myself, I am not doing it for others… cause I am appreciating every second of my life... and later in one fine day, I would be able to look back, and not regretting everything that I would not be able to do...cause I 've lived my life to the fullest.
Since I got back from America in June 2006, this trip can be considered as my first trip abroad. Not really abroad la, cause it is still in a same continent . And, for this trip, and perhaps for the upcoming trips, it would not be for the purpose of jalan-jalan je, I got works to do. Basically, this is our first collaboration with Chulalongkorn University. Civil and Environmental Research Symposium. Ramai la jugak yang pergi. Our delegation is approximately around 26 inclusive of professors and graduate students.
That night, we gathered at rumah Pn Budhi, took a taxi to KL Sentral, then took a bus to LCCT. Flight departed around 8 am kalau x silap. 15 minutes after, they announced that we already reach ‘ruang udara Penang’. I was like…. … cepat tul… laju ekk naik kapal terbang rupanya . I was so excited, so overwhelmed, which I don’t know why…. rasa macam baru first time naik kapal terbang la pulak… mungkin sebab dah lama sangat xgi proper holiday agaknya…
We reached Suvarnabumhi Airport around 11 local time. 2 hours dalam flight, rasa kejap sangat pulak. Tapi, bila sampai airport, x boleh terus gerak gi Chulalongkorn sebab the other members x sampai lagi. They all sampai dalam pukul 12 lebih. So sementara tu, kitorang explore je la airport tu… Xdelah besar sangat, KLIA lagi besar.
X lama lepas tu, Nampak rep dari Chulalongkorn Univ datang, and with her, we waited for others. Then, dgn 3 van, we all gerak ke Chula University. Memula gi guest house, makan kat international house, n balik bilik rehat sekejap.
Then, we went to the campus. Big? yes… Crowded? yes…Beautiful? So and so la…. But then they have a lot of trees, which make it redup and mendamaikan. They brought us to their department for introductory session. Dr Sakseet chaired the meeting. Basically, it’s not really a meeting, just an informal session for knowing each other. Mentioning your name, academic background, research interest, bla, bla, bla... But, the most impressive thing is, more that 80% of them graduated from America. Mentioning America, it is not some so and so university, but those with big names, MIT, Purdue, Illinois Urbana, UC Berkeley, Michigan… and listening to them, it felt like being in America again. All the American accent, make me realized, I missed my old life so much…
During meeting, we get to know one Indonesian guy named Soni. He was nice, humble, and helpful. Petang tu, lepas meeting, he promised to take us to MBK shopping center (Mambukong kot kalau x silap). At first, I was kind of underestimate the mall. I thought ours are much better… but, I was wrong. Though MBK is not really a high class mall, it is unique in its own way. Every floor seems to have their own individuality. Ada floor yang memang jual souvenirs, ada floor yg jual kain je, barang2 electronics etc. Memula, ingat nak window shopping je, tapi, at the end, banyak gak yang aku beli. Thai silk, keychain… x sampai 24 hours jejak kaki kat Bangkok, duit dah terbang melayang dari poket aku. Then, we went for dinner. Dekat food court dia ada booth yg jual makanan halal, so ok la. And, malam tu, Sony introduce a very nice local food, which I don’t know what the name is. It had slices of mangos served with sticky rice yang disimbah dengan santan. At first I thought rasa dia mcm biasa je, cause I am not really into this pulut-pulut ni, but once you taste it, you would ask for more. Mungkin sebab they all punya beras pulut memang sedap, tambah pulak dengan manga yang memang manis giler. Bukannya manis peram macam yg selalu kita rasa, tapi rasa macam manis buah yang masak kat pokok. Giler lah. Anybody that want to experience Thailand, please… try this.
Lepas tu, kitorang jalan kaki balik guest house. Xde lah jauh sangat. But, the experience is interesting. Lepas mandi semua, bermula lah kerja kitorang yang sebenar. Berbuih2 mulut aku practice untuk presentation esok… sampai tidur malam pun termimpi2 tengah present. Punya la cuak…. Ishk…ishk…ishk
